OCT 33: Panic Room

This hidden area is south of OCT 32. It is 5 by 5 yards in size. This place is not lit, leaving it in total darkness except for a glowing portal (see below). It is threadbare with no fancy decorations on the walls or floor, the only furniture left in the room is a single bed, a small wooden table, a single wooden chair and 2 large wooden chests. A single wooden barrel full of drinking water is in the north-east corner of the room.

The south-east corner of the room features a most unusual curiosity; a glowing oval portal spread across the wall, a magical teleportation gate. Stepping through the gate teleports the person to a random area (roll 2d+2 for the number of the area for EACH person stepping in every time) on the next floor down. The gate does not seem to allow a return trip back here, perhaps some monster or another has figured out how to do that (a magical trick that no-one else on this floor or the next knows).

This “trick” would explain why a Peshkali is lurking in this area when the heroes first come in here. The demon is waiting here to ambush any unlucky dwarves on the run from an invasion.

The chests contain 150 dwarven rations, 20 ceramic bottles of fine wine (each $200, 12 lbs.), a first aid kit, 2 boxes of 50 matches, 2 lanterns, 50 pints of lantern oil, an enchanted Strongarm Elven Composite Bow (effective +2 ST for damage and range, +3 damage, $215,300, 4 lbs.) and 200 loose gold coins.
