June 25: Stalker’s Junction

This area is a three-way intersection located at the maze’s north-west quadrant. One way, going south, comes to a dead end after only 4 yards.

Lurking at that dead end (and standing perfectly still and straight for who knows how long) is a Greater (HP +5, DR +3, Broadsword is magically enchanted for +3 damage and Armor Divisor (2)) Golem-Armor Swordsman, one of the labyrinth’s most powerful guardians. It’s a good thing it is slow, because it will otherwise give chase after the adventurers in an attempt to slay them all. (If the party has fought such a creature as a random encounter before now, they recognise this boss-level stalker as the exact same one – it seems it does not stay dead or in one place!)

If the party manages to slay the monster (twice, thanks to Extra Life!) or manages to lure it away so they can get past, they will find an awesome treasure tucked away at the southern dead end; a locked (-5 Lockpicking modifier) small metal (DR 10, HP 10) box has been bolted (DR 6, HP 8) to the wall. Get the box open, and there’s 3 Resurrection Oils and an enchanted user-powered Wizardly (Magery adds to casting roll) ring of Rive (Power-15, must touch subject, worth $20000, weight negligible) inside.
